These products are usually custom designed individually to specific vehicle body styles and are aerodynamically tested to achieve maximum performance. They are also designed to create maximum down force to increase road holding stability and stick to the road surface like glue. Have to be functional as well as practical.
Over the years auto imagery has played an important part to cosmetic styling.
Bonnet scoops and air vents are usually mounted onto the front bonnet for the purpose of forcing air into the engine compartment to help keep the engine cool and to have it operating at the right temperature whereby achieving maximum performance and efficiency. They can be mounted with the opening forward which forces air in or with the opening to the rear, which would create an air turbulence vacuum drawing cold air in and then exit via the real opening.
Carburettor scoops mount directly on to the carby or carbies which forces air into the units thus creating the ram air effect and horsepower.
